Privacy policy
Who this covers
This policy explains how MakeThatForMe uses information for discovery, studio publishing, accounts and custom-work projects. Contact us through the Contact page about privacy or your data.
What we collect and why
We use account details to sign you in, public profile and portfolio information to help people find makers, and private messages, reference photos, quotes, approvals and delivery details to run your projects. Payment references, amounts and provider confirmations support accounting and dispute handling. Paystack handles payment credentials; do not put card details or payment PINs in chat.
Public and private information
Studio profiles, published pieces, published stories and reviews are public. Boards become public only when you choose to share them. Project messages, quotes and payments are restricted to participants and authorized studio helpers. Authorized support staff may review a project when investigating an issue. Studio order data is stored in separate studio database schemas.
Providers and studio analytics
Hosting, email and payment providers process information needed to deliver their services. If you consent, Google and Meta may receive events about visits and actions. Platform tracking covers public discovery. A studio can connect its own analytics for its pages and prepared order events. Our event payloads exclude chat, briefs, names, email, phone numbers and delivery addresses. Providers may process information outside Kenya; contact us about the providers and safeguards used for your account.
Cookies and choices
Essential sessions and security cookies keep accounts and projects working. Optional analytics and marketing tags load only after your choice. Open Cookie settings in the footer to change it. Public discovery also uses approximate session-deduplicated counters without storing your IP or email in those counters.
Retention and your rights
Guest access expires after 24 hours. Retention cleanup is scheduled separately from expiry. Account, project and payment records are retained for service, dispute and accounting needs; deleting an account does not instantly erase records required for those purposes. You can request access, correction, deletion or objection through Contact. We verify ownership and explain any records we must retain. You may also raise a concern with Kenya’s Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Keep your information safe
Share only what is needed for your order. Never post another person’s private information in public requests or stories. Report unauthorized access through Contact. We use access controls and tenant separation, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
